The evening will highlight simple, practical strategies families can use to support reading at home during the summer break.Families of students in pre-K through fifth grade are invited to an evening of reading, learning and family fun at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
The UAB School of Education and Human Sciences will host a free Family Literacy Night on Thursday, April 30, from 5-7 p.m. The event will highlight simple, practical strategies families can use to support reading at home. Elementary and early childhood teacher candidates will lead hands-on literacy activities tailored to each grade level, and parents will leave with tools they can use to keep children engaged in reading throughout the summer break.
Local literacy partners will be on hand to connect families with additional resources, and light refreshments will be provided.
