UAB Graduate School to host Three Minute Thesis finals Nov. 7

The University of Alabama at Birmingham Graduate School will host the finals for the Three Minute Thesis on Thursday, Nov. 7, at 10 a.m. in the Alumni Theater at the UAB Hill Student Center, 1400 University Blvd. 3MT is a competition that highlights, in a condensed three-minute presentation, research conducted by doctoral students. 

During the 3MT finals, attendees will have an opportunity to hear the final nine doctoral student competitors present their research in the hopes of winning first prize and advancing to the Regional 3MT competition. The finals judges include media personalities, community leaders and business leaders. 

Developed by the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia, 3MT cultivates students’ academic, presentation and research communication skills. The competition supports their capacity to effectively explain their research in three minutes, in a language appropriate to a non-specialist audience.
