With the ongoing safety precautions due to COVID-19, the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center’s advisory board will virtually host the 37th annual ArtBLINK Gala on Friday, Feb. 4, from 6:45-8 p.m.

Birmingham’s premier event will continue to feature local artists who create original works of art in the “blink of an eye,” which will be available for bid or purchase via an online auction at artblink.home.qtego.net. Proceeds from ArtBLINK support top-priority projects in cancer research and care through the O’Neal Cancer Center’s Fund for Excellence.

The O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center at UAB is among the nation’s leading cancer research institutions and one of only 51 cancer centers in the country with a “comprehensive” designation from the National Cancer Institute.

The Friday evening program will feature special messages from O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center director Barry Sleckman, M.D., Ph.D., and honorees Janie and David Brown, as well as a featured survivor, physicians, researchers, board members and artists.

In addition to watching the event’s video program for free and bidding on artwork through its online auction, participants may purchase tickets for a special ArtBLINK dinner from Iz Catering to enjoy at home or host a watch party and introduce new friends to the O’Neal Cancer Center.

Watch the premiere of the ArtBLINK Gala program on the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center’s YouTube channel. To view the final pieces of art that will be available for auction, register by texting ARTBLINK to 72727.
