Vision DuoInside asc vision duo will perform on the University of Alabama at Birmingham campus Thursday, Oct. 13, in a free show presented by the Alys Stephens Performing Arts Center.

Violinist Ariel Horowitz and percussionist Britton-René Collins perform classical works with a contemporary twist. For this tour, Vision Duo will perform their “Genre-Fication” program, which explores the sound world of violin and percussion. On the program for this Concert Artists Guild Series performance are works by Seyfried, Horowitz, J.S. Bach, Collins and Piazzolla.

Horowitz and Collins formed their duo after becoming co-winners of the Concert Artists Guild International Competition’s Ambassador Prize. In doing so, the duo quickly discovered their shared passion for post-genre and contemporary music, promoting systemic change, and centering equity and access in musical spaces, according to their artist’s statement. Through an exploration of musical genres and sonic possibilities for violin and percussion, Vision Duo seeks to contribute to the ongoing redefinition of classical music programming and structures.

All ages are welcome. Admission is free with registration; register online. There will be an intermission. Visit AlysStephens.org for more information or call the ASC Box Office at 205-975-2787.
