UAB expands access to higher education by offering free applications for undergraduate prospects. Prospective undergraduate students have the opportunity to begin blazing their path at the University of Alabama at Birmingham during “Free Application Week,” set for Oct. 5-9. Entering first-time freshman, transfer and online students can apply at no cost, regardless of their residency status.
As part of UAB’s initiative to expand access to higher education, all prospective students — both in-state and out-of-state — can apply this week without paying any application fees. Future Blazers can apply online at uab.edu/apply during the fee waiver period. Applications must be started and submitted Oct. 5 through 9 to qualify for the waiver — no code or additional step is necessary.
“Free Application Week is an exciting opportunity for students to take the next step toward becoming a Blazer without having to worry about the cost of applying to UAB,” said Kathleen Stallings, executive director of Undergraduate Admissions and Scholarships at UAB. “We encourage students who are considering UAB to take advantage of this opportunity, submit their application and open the door to all that a UAB education has to offer.”
For prospective students interested in visiting UAB’s campus, the university offers campus tours to see where Blazers learn, discover, study and relax.

UAB continues to shine
Preliminary enrollment figures indicate UAB is on track to welcome the largest freshman class in university history for fall 2026. While final enrollment data will not be available until the university’s official census later this semester, early estimates project approximately 2,600 first-year freshman students, which would be 3 percent higher than last year’s record-setting class.
