School of Engineering Egg Drop Contest

The UAB American Society of Mechanical Engineers in the School of Engineering will host the 35th annual Brent Newman Memorial Egg Drop Contest on Friday, April 10.

Up to 700 area students can attempt to achieve what seems impossible — dropping raw eggs from the top of Science and Engineering Complex without breaking the eggs. Participants will be asked to design apparatuses that will protect a raw egg from breaking when dropped from the top of the five-story building.

Entries will be judged on engineering thought and creativity, mass of the apparatus, and the ease with which the egg is loaded into the apparatus.
