This year’s theme, “Scholarship with a Purpose,” highlights UAB’s commitment to advancing its public mission through meaningful partnerships that improve lives and strengthen communities. The showcase will feature the community-engaged work of faculty and staff whose collaborations address real-world challenges, expand access and opportunity, and contribute to a better quality of life across Birmingham and beyond.

“Community-engaged scholarship is a vital expression of UAB’s mission as a
public-serving institution,” said Paulette Patterson Dilworth, Ph.D., vice president
for Access and Engagement. “This event shines a light on the rigorous, innovative
and collaborative work taking place across campus — work that not only advances
knowledge but also creates meaningful impact in the communities we serve.”

The showcase is open to faculty, staff, students and the public. Attendees will have opportunities to explore oral and poster presentations, talk with presenters, and learn how to become involved in community-engaged research, teaching and service. Registration is required to attend. Parking for non-UAB attendees is available in the 14th Street Public Parking Deck.

The scholarship showcase is co-sponsored by the UAB Office of Access and Engagement, the Office of the ProvostCenter for Teaching and LearningCenter for the Study of Community Health, the Service Learning and Undergraduate Research, and Blazer Pulse.
