High school seniors can gain hands-on medical experience and career guidance at this upcoming workshop in Montgomery.The University of Alabama at Birmingham Marnix E. Heersink School of Medicine Montgomery Regional Campus is opening its doors to the next generation of health care professionals with its upcoming Pre‑Med Immersion Day, a hands‑on educational experience designed for high school seniors exploring careers in medicine. The event will take place Saturday, April 18, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the UAB Montgomery Campus.
This full‑day workshop offers students an opportunity to step directly into the world of medicine. Participants will work alongside current UAB medical students, physicians and admissions experts as they gain practical skills, explore clinical environments and learn what it takes to pursue a future in medicine.
Program highlights:
- Basic Life Support Certification for all participants
- Suturing workshop led by UAB medical students
- Guided tour of a working hospital
- Direct conversations with physicians, current medical students and the campus admissions director
- Resume‑building insights for college and pre‑med pathways
Registration is required and slots are limited, with priority given to high school students interested in a career in medicine who register today. A waiting list will be available once capacity has been reached.
