FreeappWeek2Graduating seniors in Alabama and students looking to transfer to the University of Alabama at Birmingham can apply at no cost Oct. 19-23 as part of the national American College Application Week.

“Applying for college can be expensive and time-consuming,” said Bradley Barnes, Ph.D., vice provost of Enrollment Management at UAB. “We want to provide every opportunity for those who want to attend college at UAB to have that chance. By waiving application fees for one week, we hope that seniors and transfer students take advantage of the opportunity to further their education.”

Recently, UAB waived standardized test scores for applicants through fall 2021 because of testing availability and scheduling due to the COVID-19 pandemic. UAB is breaking down these barriers that adversely affect students and families to help them as they embark on the college admissions process.

American College Application Week is a national initiative to increase the number of first-generation college students and students from low-income families pursuing a college degree or other higher-education credential. The primary purpose of this effort is to help high school seniors navigate the complex college application and admissions process and ensure they apply to at least one postsecondary institution.
