Adventure awaits with UAB Adventure Recreation

Take an outdoor adventure down the Ocoee River or through Yellowstone National Park with UAB Adventure Recreation.

Uab ADV RECExplore the great outdoors this year with the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Adventure Recreation.

Over the next 12 months, UAB is offering several thrilling opportunities for people of all experience and skill levels such as exploring Yellowstone National Park, backpacking in the Sonoran Desert and skiing the slopes of Western North Carolina.

The 2022-2023 list of adventures includes: 

  • September 2-5: Great Smokey Mountains and Nantahala Outdoor Center
  • October 14-16: backpacking in the Mount Cheaha Wilderness area
  • October 22, March 4 and August 12: climbing at Sandrock
  • November 12: spelunking at Tumbling Rock
  • December 12-16 and January 13-16: skiing in Western North Carolina
  • February 25: mountain biking at Oak Mountain State Park
  • March 11-18: backpacking in Tonto National Forrest
  • April 4-14: backpacking to the Sipsey Wilderness
  • May 19-21: whitewater rafting and camping at Chattooga River
  • June 24: Cahaba canoe float
  • July 14-24: Yellowstone National Park

All trips have food provided and two experienced guides to ensure a fun and safe experience in the outdoors. Adventures are open to students, members of University Recreation and members of the community.
