computerThis course provides a unique opportunity for students to gain a global perspective from the comfort of their homes and expand their network with business and culture experts from Taiwan and Brazil.The University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Collat School of Business has introduced a new online course, Comparative Business Cultures: Virtual Business Study Abroad, aimed at equipping students with core strategies for attaining cultural competence in international business practices, specifically in Taiwan and Brazil.

This fully online experience provides an opportunity for students to learn about diverse cultures, connect with people around the globe and develop intercultural communication skills from afar. The course includes synchronous lectures with industry experts, group discussions, case studies, international business document composition, short speech presentations, chapter quizzes, blog posts and a final comparative business culture project.

One of the program highlights is that students will have the opportunity for real-time collaboration with international students from Taiwan and Brazil. The course also offers cross-cultural activities such as international cooking lessons.

To be eligible for the program, students must have completed EH 101 with a grade of C or better. The program fee for the course is $270, which includes virtual access to the program and necessary supplies.

In addition, students who submit their application and click the “Commit to Participate” button prior to the deadline will receive a $300 stipend for all fees.
