UAB Basketball and Andy Kennedy set to host 2023 summer camps

Join the University of Alabama at Birmingham basketball head coach, Andy Kennedy, and the coaches and players of the UAB men’s basketball team as they offer local kids and young adults an exciting opportunity to stay active, learn new skills and have fun this summer through basketball.

1204632562634102.Igxnl267GUJVCkJxQBAi height640The University of Alabama at Birmingham Men’s Basketball head coach, Andy Kennedy, and the UAB Blazer coaches and players will host summer basketball camps to offer local kids and young adults an exciting opportunity to stay active, learn new skills and have fun this summer through basketball.

Andy Kennedy’s Youth Camp is a four-day basketball camp for elementary and middle school children of all skill levels, grades 3-12. 

Through two opportunities June 13-16 and July 17-20, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., campers will engage in both fun and challenging activities that focus on the fundamental aspects of basketball, such as dribbling, passing, shooting, rebounding and defense.

Campers will be divided into groups based on their age and skill level for small group exercises and one-on-one instruction and advice, participating in a variety of drills that stress the fast-paced nature of the sport. Each four-day session includes daily lunch, a camp T-shirt and team autographs. 

Regular camp is priced at $300 with a 9 a.m. drop-off. Early drop-off at 8 a.m. is priced at $350. There is a discount for UAB employees of $50 off, which can be applied only to the regular camp fee.

Under the direction of Kennedy and some of the best players and coaches in the NCAA, campers will receive notable training to better their skills and learn how to embody the techniques of the 2022 Conference USA Champions.
