Teachers learn to encourage writing across the curriculum

indexThe UAB Red Mountain Writing Project will host the 21st Century Literacies Conference on Saturday, March 3, 2012, in Heritage Hall located at 1401 University Blvd. Award-winning authors and educators Sharon Draper and Kevin Hodgson will present and noted area teachers will conduct workshops. The focus is on K-13 Writing Across the Curriculum, Response to Intervention, Technology in the Classroom and Writing that Matters.

The conference is open to educators and pre-service teachers across the region. The cost is $65 and includes lunch. To register, go to www.rmwp.org to register for the conference.

The Red Mountain Writing Project, led by Tonya Perry, Ph.D., is a local affiliate of the National Writing Project; its mission is to provide a forum for teachers of all grade levels and content areas to study and develop innovative strategies for literacy instruction.
