Grow your own food: UAB may offer garden plots on campus

Grow your own food — on campus.

plant_webThe UAB Sustainability Committee may soon offer students, faculty and staff small garden plots on campus. The program would allow participants, who would provide their own seeds or seedlings, to grow their own produce for one year. UAB would provide site security, irrigation and guidance for growth of typical crops free of charge. Each participant would keep his or her own produce.

The program will require a one-year commitment and a small deposit that will be refunded at the end of the year. The program will only be offered if there is sufficient demand; anyone interested in participating should send an email to Julie Price in the Department of Biology at juliegp@uab.edu.
