Blazer BEST winners announced

The UAB School of Engineering presented more than 20 team awards at the school's Blazer BEST robotics competition Oct. 9, 2010 in Bartow Arena. Teams representing 28 middle and high schools competed in the contest, using robots they built from scratch with supplies and parts provided by the School of Engineering. BEST robotics is a nationwide program that encourages engineering, math and science learning. UAB annually hosts the local Central Alabama contest.

The six top teams from Blazer BEST now advance to South's BEST, the Southeast region contest, Nov. 18-20. The advancing teams are Spain Park High School, Altamont Upper School, Homewood Middle School, Oak Mountain High School, Briarwood Christian School and Isabella High School.
