School of Nursing to hold annual Young Breast Cancer Survivors workshop

The UAB School of Nursing will host its annual workshop dedicated to empowering breast cancer survivors and their loved ones through education, personal support and networking.

breast cancer survivor workshopThe Young Breast Cancer Survivorship Network, an initiative of the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing, will hold its 4th Annual Young Breast Cancer Survivors Workshop on Saturday, April 2.

The free event is scheduled from 10:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at The Worship Center – Huffman, 100 Derby Parkway, Birmingham, AL 35210. It will include sessions for women, a men’s workshop, a program for children and teens, Zumba, a meditation walk, and other activities. Breakfast and lunch will also be available.

Session topics for women include:

  • Unique Insights From a Young Survivor
  • Physical Activity – What’s New?
  • Single and Dating
  • Ask the Expert
  • Friends, Families and Partners in Survival

The focus of the YBCSN is to improve the quality of life of young breast cancer survivors and their loved ones through education, support and networking.

Support for the YBCSN program comes through the Women’s Breast Health Fund of the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham.
