Works of art created by children who are visually impaired are on exhibition at UAB’s Edge of Chaos through Oct. 15, and some works are available for purchase.
Students in the School of Health Professions’ Department of Occupational Therapy are now getting real-world experience with a new cross-professional program that uses students from the College of Arts and Sciences’ Department of Theatre as patients.
Nearly 1,400 students will graduate this summer, and an estimated 700 are expected to walk in the summer commencement ceremony at Bartow Arena.
Hosted by the College of Arts and Sciences’ Department of Art and Art History, the online store now features limited edition prints created by Guggenheim fellow David Sandlin, sculptor and conceptual artist Willie Cole, and California-based mixed-media artist Travis Somerville.
Martinez will supervise the leadership of the Hill Student Center, Student Housing and Residential Life, and Campus Dining, as well as act as university liaison to the contract food service provider.
The exhibition includes works by 22 faculty members in many media. A free opening reception is planned for 5-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2, at the UA Gallery.
Registration is open for a new fall session of classes at ArtPlay, the Alys Stephens Center’s home for arts education for all ages on the UAB campus.
The exhibition, presented by the UAB College of Arts and Sciences' Abroms-Engel Institute for the Visual Arts, opens Sept. 9 with a free reception.
Students from Medium: Art Club at UAB will exhibit selected works in a juried exhibition, while Assistant Professor of Sculpture Stacey Holloway’s solo exhibition, “Herds,” will also be on view. A free reception is set for July 15.
