Kent T. Keyser, Ph.D., UAB professor of vision sciences, is the 2011 recipient of the Sam Brown Bridge Builder Award. This award recognizes a UAB faculty or staff member who has a deep and abiding commitment to facilitating collaboration and partnership across campus in ways that enhance the research and teaching activities of the university.
“Kent’s primary faculty appointment is in the School of Optometry, yet he spends untold hours working on behalf of programs and projects that benefit other schools and several interdisciplinary centers and programs,” says Richard B. Marchase, vice president for UAB Research and Economic Development.
Keyser has held numerous positions across campus, most notably director of the interdisciplinary Vision Science Research Center. Keyser also has faculty appointments in the College of Arts and Sciences, School of Engineering and Joint Health Science Departments.
