The University of Alabama System Board of Trustees approved the establishment of the David Hill Chestnut Endowed Professorship in Anesthesiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) during its meeting Feb. 8, 2013.
David Hill Chestnut, M.D, joined the UAB faculty in 1994 and was named the Alfred Habeeb Chair of Anesthesiology and served as professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. In 2008, the trustees established the Fred and Bessie Mae Chestnut Endowed Medical Scholarship in honor of Chestnut’s parents through a gift from the Chestnut family.
