New UAB Medicine Specialty Clinics at UAB St. Vincent’s East

As part of an effort to expand specialty care in the eastern Birmingham area, UAB Medicine recently opened a new specialty clinic at UAB St. Vincent’s East that will provide both urology and gastroenterology care for men and women, as well as care for prostate and bladder disorders, urinary tract infections, kidney stones, and urologic cancer.

The clinics are located on the third floor of Medical Office Building 52 on the UAB St. Vincent’s East campus.

Granulomatous mastitis clinic opens at The Kirklin Clinic

The UAB Medicine Granulomatous Mastitis Clinic is helping reshape idiopathic granulomatous mastitis care through a multidisciplinary approach and the use of ultrasound-guided intralesional steroid injections, a targeted treatment that delivers medication directly into affected breast tissue. Unlike systemic therapies, this minimally invasive, low-cost procedure is designed to reduce inflammation with few side effects, and early patient outcomes have been highly encouraging.

By combining innovative treatment options with coordinated care across specialties, UAB aims to provide faster symptom relief, minimize complications and help patients achieve long-term remission.

The clinic is located at The Kirklin Clinic of UAB Hospital.

Saturday Morning Injury Clinic opening in August

The UAB Saturday Morning Injury Clinic, an initiative of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, is designed to offer easy, weekend access to orthopaedic care for minor to urgent injuries, helping patients get prompt treatment without going to the emergency department or waiting for a scheduled visit.

Located at UAB Hospital-Highlands on the first floor, it operates on Saturday mornings to give patients of all ages timely evaluation and treatment for issues like sprains, strains, joint injuries, possible fractures, dislocations and concussions outside of typical weekday hours.

The clinic will be open Aug. 1 to Nov. 21.
