UAB Women and Infants Center honored with three Birmingham Parent “Best Of” Distinctions

WIC2UAB was voted “favorite NICU” for the second year in a row.The University of Alabama at Birmingham Women and Infants Center has been named a “family favorite” in three categories in Birmingham Parent Magazine’s annual Family Favorites Awards reader-voted survey, including favorite all-around hospital, favorite NICU and favorite fertility specialist.

The open forum survey tallied more than 60,000 reader nominations and votes to make the 2019 winners list. Birmingham Parent’s Family Favorites survey is the longest-running poll of its kind in the Birmingham area.

UAB received the “favorite all-around hospital” award based on the Women and Infants Center’s exceptional patient care, research, training and diverse range of medical professionals with unique expertise in various medical services.

In addition, UAB was voted “favorite NICU” for the second year in a row due to the extensive comprehensive care offered to babies born prematurely, as UAB’s RNICU is the state’s only Level IV NICU.

Lastly, UAB’s Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility were named “favorite fertility specialist,” providing key fertility services to individuals and couples alike who are attempting to conceive a child.
