Faye-Petersen wins pathology award

Ona Faye-Petersen, M.D., professor in the Department of Pathology, was awarded the President’s Distinguished Colleague Award for 2011 from the Society for Pediatric Pathology. She was cited for her leadership and extensive service to the society as chair of the SPP Education Committee from 2008 to 2011.

This is the second time Faye-Petersen has received this award. In 2002, she was honored for establishing the SPP Perinatal Section, the annual multidisciplinary Perinatal Symposia, and for directing the first SPP-sponsored, free standing, three-day course in the subspecialty. She is one of only five recipients, and the first woman, to receive this award twice since the SPP was founded in 1965.
