Quamarul Hassan, DVM, Ph.D., an associate professor in the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry, has been named an associate editor for Regenerative Dentistry, a specialty section of Frontiers in Dental Medicine. Hassan has previously served as a review editor for the publication.

Frontiers in Dental Medicine is an award-winning open science platform and leading open access scholarly publisher, dedicated to making high-quality research results openly available to the world, thereby accelerating scientific and technological innovation, societal progress, and economic growth.

As an associate editor, Hassan will be an integral part in Frontiers’ collaborative peer-review process, managing and overseeing the peer review of manuscripts submitted to Regenerative Dentistry.

Hassan is a J. William Fulbright Scholar in the RNA Biology and Epigenetics lab at the School of Dentistry. His research focus is in craniofacial development and genetics, looking at the genetic changes that occur during the maturation of the bone-building cells called osteoblasts. These studies look to identify how epigenetic modulators affect bone density, physiology and structure.
