Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, understanding epidemiologic concepts has become paramount for personal and professional decision-making. The event aims to advance reading and critical thinking about pandemic-related news.

Stella Aslibekyan, Ph.D., associate professor of epidemiology in the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Public Health, will present several tools to analyze COVID-19 news and separating correlation from causation. Participants will have the opportunity to explore concepts like herd immunity, vaccine efficacy, endemic infection and what COVID-19 control means.
