Gilbert receives evidence-based dentistry award from the American Dental Association

Gregg Gilbert867BF096 C18B 4559 A07A 2E600B3CEE72, DDS, distinguished professor at theUniversity of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry, has received the Evidence-Based Dentistry Accomplished Faculty Award from the American Dental Association and the American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research. 

Gilbert is one of only three recipients of this award that recognizes dental educators and clinicians for their contributions to evidence-based dentistry in research, practice or education. 

Gilbert is the chair of the UAB Department of Clinical and Community Sciences and the founding director of the National Dental Practice-Based Research Network, which connects clinical researchers with dental practitioners. He fosters partnerships that allow working dental offices to participate in the evaluation of existing and novel strategies for improving oral health for their patients. 

Under Gilbert’s leadership, the network has conducted more than 50 studies and published 200 peer-reviewed scientific journal articles, advancing clinical decision-making and the application of evidence-based research into clinical practice.
