Heersink School of Medicine and the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center for a “Shave Off” event culminating the “No Shave November” campaign in honor of Men’s Health Awareness Month at the UAB Hospital North Pavilion on Thursday, Dec. 1, from 3-5 p.m.

The event will help raise awareness and address some of the biggest health issues faced by men, including prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health.

With UAB faculty, staff and students shaving off their monthlong beards with help from local barbers, community members are encouraged to attend, learn more, join a team or donate by visiting the event’s official website.

“UAB doctors work as a multidisciplinary team of specialists to optimize the screening, detection, risk-stratification and treatment of prostate cancer with a patient-centric, personalized approach,” said Soroush Rais-Bahrami, M.D., interim chair of the Department of Urology. “Our goal is to educate the general public and advance treatment approaches to cure diseases that affect men’s health overall.”
