The University of Alabama System Board of Trustees appointed Steven M. Theiss, M.D., as the second holder of the John D. Sherrill Chair of Orthopaedic Surgery in the University of Alabama at Birmingham Department of Surgery during its meeting on Sept. 13, 2013. Theiss joined the UAB faculty in 1995 and was named director of the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery in 2013.
