Short course to focus on use of mathematical sciences in obesity research

The mathematical sciences are increasingly used to advance understanding of the causes, consequences and alleviation of obesity.

SOPH bannerThe University of Alabama at Birmingham Office of Energetics is hosting a five-day short course on “The Mathematical Sciences in Obesity Research” from June 22-26.

The mathematical sciences, which include engineering, statistics, computer science, physics, econometrics, psychometrics and epidemiology, are increasingly used to advance understanding of the causes, consequences and alleviation of obesity.

This short course will be taught by some of the world’s top scientists, who will provide a better understanding of the intersection of the mathematical sciences and obesity research.

Applications for “The Mathematical Sciences in Obesity Research” will be accepted until May 1. Full details of the course and an application are online. Limited travel scholarships are available to young investigators.
