Morgan appointed to American Board of Radiology Board of Governors

Morgan will serve alongside UAB’s Cheri Canon, M.D., who is currently the board’s president-elect.

Morgan 1Desiree E. Morgan, M.D.Desiree E. Morgan, M.D., professor and vice chair of Faculty Affairs in the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Department of Radiology, has been appointed to the American Board of Radiology’s Board of Governors.

Morgan, who previously served the ABR as an abdominal diagnostic radiology trustee since 2018, will now serve the board in matters of finance, strategic planning, priority setting and oversight of American Board of Medical Specialty matters.

“I am grateful for this opportunity to serve the ABR in this new capacity, particularly because so many exciting things are happening with the diagnostic radiology certifying process,” Morgan said.

The ABR is a not-for-profit organization and is one of 24 American Board of Medical Specialties specialty boards. According to the ABR, they were founded to protect the public by assessing and certifying doctors who meet specific educational, training and professional requirements.

Morgan will join UAB’s Cheri Canon, M.D., chair of the Department of Radiology, who is currently the board’s president-elect.
