David B. Allison, Ph.D., distinguished professor and associate dean for science in the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Public Health, has been elected to membership in the Johns Hopkins Society of Scholars. Allison is one of 16 newly elected members of this prestigious society, which was established in May 1967 by the trustees of Johns Hopkins University to honor distinguished former Johns Hopkins postdoctoral fellows and junior or visiting faculty. The Society of Scholars has 595 elected members.
Allison completed his postdoctoral fellowship at Johns Hopkins after completing his doctoral degree at Hofstra University. In the past year, Allison has also been elected to fellowship in the Institute of Mathematical Statistics, elected to the Institute of Medicine and appointed to the Quetelet Endowed Professorship in Public Health by the University of Alabama System Board of Trustees.
Allison will be presented with a medallion and certificate during the formal induction on April 11, 2013, at Johns Hopkins University.
