The University of Alabama System Board of Trustees approved the creation of the John A. and Ruth R. Jurenko Endowed Professorship in Neurology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and appointed Andrew B. West, Ph.D., as its inaugural holder during its meeting Feb. 8, 2013. The professorship will promote research and education in neurology with a focus on Parkinson’s disease. West joined the UAB faculty in 2007 and currently serves as associate professor.
