Space One Eleven honors UAB Art professor, graduate with installation

Doug Baulos and alumnus Trent Thomas created window art for the artist-run, non-profit visual arts organization; a free reception is planned Sept. 6.

To honor city art educators and their students, Space One Eleven is featuring installations by teachers and students in a program called Tutor-Student Windows.

On show now are window installations by University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Assistant Professor Doug Baulos, M.F.A., and UAB graduate Trent Thomas. Baulos teaches drawing and bookmaking in the UAB Department of Art and Art History.

Space One Eleven is an artist-run, visual arts non-profit organization in Birmingham. The installations will be on display in the gallery’s front windows at 2409 Second Ave. North through Sept. 6, 2013, with a free closing reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Baulos’ installation in the left window is titled “Bug Yellow Skin”; Thomas’ installation in the right window is titled “Turquoise Skin.”
