Non-profit agencies that provide service, education or research can apply for a Benevolent Fund Independent Agency Grant now through Jan. 18.

benevolent_fundThe University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Benevolent Fund is now accepting applications for 2013 Independent Agency Grants. The deadline for 2013 applications is noon Friday, Jan. 18, 2013.

Non-profit agencies with a primary purpose to provide service, education and/or research to meet human health-care needs and social services, are invited to review the eligibility criteria and apply for a grant if appropriate. Non-profit agencies that receive Benevolent Fund designations through United Way or Benevolent Fund local health agency designation may not apply for additional funding through the Independent Agency Grant process. Organizations are approved and funded on a one-year basis and rotate off the funding schedule.

Funded solely by UAB employee contributions, the UAB Benevolent Fund creates opportunities for a better community through employee emergency assistance and donations to independent agencies, local health agencies and United Way. General information and applications can be found at www.uab.edu/benfund. For questions or more information, contact Lisa Higginbotham at lisahig@uab.edu or 205-934-1581.
