Dean G. Assimos, M.D., professor and chair of the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Department of Urology, will receive the Hugh Hampton Young Award, which is presented annually to an individual for outstanding contributions to the study of genitourinary tract disease. Assimos has been chosen because of an outstanding career in research, and for excellence in the treatment of complex renal stone disease.
Assimos is one of several physicians, researchers and educators being honored for their contributions to the field of medicine, the specialty of urology and the American Urological Association (AUA). Assimos will be presented with this award at the AUA’s upcoming annual meeting in May 2013 in San Diego, Calif.
