Some of the world’s most prolific engineering researchers, professionals and educators will converge here Sept. 8-11, 2013 for a symposium to explore emerging technology, trends and research in agile ground vehicle dynamics, energy efficiency and performance in severe environments.
“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity,” said Vladimir Vantsevich, Sc.D., Ph.D., University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) professor of engineering and symposium chair. “In 20 years, you would be lucky if you saw these renowned professionals speak.”
The Agile Ground Vehicle Dynamics Energy Efficiency and Performance in Severe Environments International Engineering Symposium, hosted by the UAB School of Engineering and Department of Mechanical Engineering, Barber Motorsports, Southern Company, Birmingham Chapter of American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the International Society for Terrain Vehicle Systems, will be held in the Hilton Birmingham Perimeter Park Hotel.
Vantsevich, recently featured in the journals Vehicle Dynamics International and Polymers and Tyre Asia, is working to create a world-class mechatronics program at UAB and hopes this conference will enable students and others to learn about trends from the biggest names in the business.
Distinguished speakers include Thomas Gillespie of Mechanical Simulation Corp.; Japan’s Masato Abe of Kanagawa Institute of Technology; Donald Margolis of University of California, Davis; Jianbo Lu of Ford Motor Company; Delbert Tesar of University of Texas, Austin; Lev Barakhtanov of Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University and others.
Conference registration is $250 for students and professionals from developing countries, $550 for professionals and $750 for exhibitors. Registration discounts are available to local companies and academic institutions. UAB students, faculty and staff may attend workshops at no cost, but must pay to attend the banquet.
