UAB hosts national expert on cyber abuse and cybercrime

McQuade is the author of The Encyclopedia of Cyber Crime and Cyber Bullying: Protecting Kids and Adults from Online Bullies.

McQuadeSamuel C. McQuade, III, Ph.D., who has served with the U.S. Department of Justice, the National Technology and Information Administration (NITA) and the National Research Council of the National Academy of Sciences, will present "Cyber Bullying Amidst a World Filled with Online Abuse and Cybercrime" at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). The event is open to the public and will be held from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, in the Hill University Center Room 313, 1400 University Boulevard.

McQuade, the author of The Encyclopedia of Cyber Crime and Cyber Bullying: Protecting Kids and Adults from Online Bullies, says cyber bullying, while associated with younger users, is a growing problem among adults. He will discuss the current state of online abuse and provide solutions for those affected.

McQuade is the director of the master of science in Professional Studies Program at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). His appearance at UAB is co-sponsored by the UAB Center for Information Assurance and Joint Forensics Research (CIA|JFR), the Department of Justice Sciences and the Department of Computer and Information Sciences.
