The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Liver Center will host its annual Liver Awareness Day from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013, at the Hyatt Regency at The Wynfrey Hotel. Discussion topics for the day include the social service resources available at The Kirklin Clinic and how they can help; fatty liver disease in adults and kids; an update in viral hepatitis B and C; screening for hepatocellular carcinoma; cirrhosis, advanced liver disease and liver transplantation; and a question and answer session. Presenters include liver specialists, doctors and others.
