As part of National Public Health Week, the UAB School of Public Health will sponsor the “Wicked Problem” case competition, bringing together some of the best teams of thinkers from UAB and in the community to tackle a public health issue.
A “Wicked Problem” has been described as a highly complex problem to which potential solutions require both creative and interdisciplinary thinking. Last year, teams were asked how they would handle a syphilis outbreak in a community with limited resources.
Students can register as individuals, in which case they will be assigned to a team, or as a team of up to six members. Each team will be assigned a mentor.
Registration opens March 18 online at www.soph.uab.edu/wickedproblemteamregistration. Teams will receive case descriptions on April 1, and a team workday will be held April 3. The case presentations and judging will take place April 4.
First, second, and third place winners will receive cash prizes.
