Kendall Wakefield of Winfield, Alabama, who is earning a degree in writing and media, will be the first woman in her family to earn a college degree when she graduates May 2.

UAB Student Media Director Jackie Alexander was inaugurated in November at the annual conference held in Atlanta, where UAB student media outlets were awarded top prizes.

With more than 162,000 square feet, the new UAB Hill Student Center is the living room of the university and provides places for students to congregate, eat and study, making it their home away from home.
