Dear UAB Community and Friends,

We are delighted to share with you some very exciting news: earlier today at the Times Higher Education (THE) Young Universities Summit in Surrey, England, it was announced that UAB is ranked the Top Young University in the U.S. (50 years or younger) for the second consecutive year and 12th globally. UAB was also honored to deliver the Summit’s opening keynote address earlier this morning.

THE University Rankings are based on defined metrics and are among the world’s most comprehensive, balanced and trusted—by academics, students and their families, industry and governments globally. There are more than 300 institutions from 60 different countries in this year’s Young University Rankings, which employ the same rigorous indicators as the overall THE World University Rankings—with young universities measured across their teaching, research, citations, international outlooks and industry incomes.

This prestigious recognition is a testament to the talent and dedication of our faculty, staff, and students as well as the strong partnership of our community, state, and alumni around the nation and world. Together we continue making tremendous strides in education, research and every pillar of our mission, in keeping with UAB’s shared values of collaboration, excellence and achievement.

As we celebrate our 50th anniversary year, this ranking is a resounding affirmation of the innovative spirit that has defined and propelled UAB from the start and earned us international renown. That same spirit now inspires us to push the frontiers even further, as we continue forging the future, begin tackling a grand challenge, and look forward to another promising academic year.
