The university achieved innumerable accomplishments this year, including two program 50th anniversaries, a milestone gift to the College of Arts and Sciences, and the announcement of a new conference for UAB Athletics.

Programs across the university, from athletics to academics to patient care and more, were recognized on the national and international level in 2022, highlighting UAB’s continued commitment to excellence and achievement as outlined in Forging the Future, UAB’s strategic plan.

Day after day during the World Games, contributions from Blazers made it possible to make athletes’ dreams come true and entertain fans while giving them a peek at the wealth of talent and creativity nurtured on UAB’s campus.

Journey through time in “Fifty Years of Dreams and Discoveries,” a 200-page pictorial book that chronicles UAB’s rise from a nascent university in 1969 to a leading doctoral research university.

What’s green and white and 50 all over? UAB’s new 1969 Chevy K5 Blazer, rolled out for the first time at Blazer Village Saturday.

New employees can purchase a ticket to the UAB Football season opener vs. Alabama State 7 p.m. Aug. 29 in Legion Field for 50% off. All UAB employees qualify for a 15% discount on season tickets, available at uabsports.com.

Employees have multiple transportation options to Legion Field this football season, including a free public shuttle from campus, free bike parking and options to pre-purchase season or single-game parking permits to snag a guaranteed spot near Legion Field.

UAB Football Head Coach and National Coach of the Year Bill Clark will be the featured speaker.

Gameday Done Right can provide everything from setup and breakdown to onsite customer service beginning at just $100 per game.

The Jan. 27 run travels through the Southside, Railroad Park and the Rotary Trail, and registration includes tickets to the basketball doubleheader that evening.

History was made Aug. 29 when the UAB Department of Athletics broke ground for the Football Operations Center and Legacy Pavilion.

UAB Football will make its 2016 debut Aug. 29, when the Blazers host a Green and Gold Game at BBVA Compass Field. Tickets can be purchased 9 a.m.-5 p.m. in advance from the UAB Athletics Ticket Office in Bartow Arena or at the gate on game day.

The $500,000 gift is the first and largest corporate donation for the UAB Football Operations Building.

More than $5.2 million has been paid in UAB’s Finish the Drive campaign to secure $17.2 million pledged to UAB Athletics, exceeding the $4.5 million Jan. 15 goal.
