“Mike has done a wonderful job in his time as dean, starting with his appointment as interim dean in 2011,” Provost Pam Benoit said in announcing his departure. Under his leadership as dean, the school has been ranked first in the country in research funding from the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research and has almost doubled patient care productivity. He has made significant improvements in the facility and built strong alumni and community engagement

UAB will name an interim dean in the next few months, to serve alongside Reddy until his departure, and a national search for a permanent dean to begin during the summer, Benoit said.

Reddy, who joined UAB in 1989, also chaired the Department of Periodontics from 2004 until he was named interim dean.
