Corona Virus - Covid 19 work online concept.Have you considered hiring a student to work part-time in your department this year but funds are tight?  A change this year might make that possible.

The UAB Office of Student Financial Aid, which offers federal work-study funding to eligible students each year, has been approved to pay 100% of work-study salaries from its grant for the 2020-21 academic year.

Work-study is a need-based, federal financial aid program that provides part-time jobs for undergraduate and graduate students, enabling them to earn money to help pay educational expenses. The program encourages community service work and work related to a student’s course of study.  Work-study openings are posted in Handshake, UAB’s student job portal, which creates a seamless process for posting, reviewing and selecting new hires.

To learn more about this program and whether it would be a good fit for your department, contact Laine Chapman, manager of Financial Aid Outreach and Work-Study Programs, at lchapman@uab.edu or 205-996-2466, or visit uab.edu/workstudy.
