Researchers at UAB Pediatrics are looking for healthy children and adolescents ages 15 months to 17 years old to participate in a pneumonia vaccine research study.
Most children receive pneumonia vaccines during their first year of life. This study is evaluating an updated pneumonia vaccine designed to protect against additional strains of pneumonia.
Participants will receive one dose of either:
- PG4 (the investigational updated pneumonia vaccine), or
- 20vPnC (the currently approved pneumonia vaccine used in the U.S.)
What is involved?
- 2 clinic visits
- 2 blood draws
- 1 vaccine injection
- 1 telephone follow-up visit
- Total study duration: approximately 6 months
Your child may qualify if they:
- Are healthy
- Are between 15 months and 17 years old
- Have received at least 2 pneumonia vaccines in their lifetime
