We are looking for people 18-65 years of age who are free from certain health conditions (HIV+, cardiovascular disease, uncontrolled hypertension) and would like to take part in a research study examining the impact of sex hormone levels on pain sensitivity and immune cell activity. The study would require you to come to UAB for two research visits. The first visit will last approximately three hours and will consist of filling out questionnaires, having a blood draw, undergoing three saliva sample collections, and taking part in pain sensitivity testing. After this visit, participants will receive an activity-tracking watch and sleep/caffeine diaries to complete for 7 days; the second visit will be one week after the first visit and will last approximately one hour and consist of additional questionnaires.
Participants will receive up to $100 for completion of the first visit and up to $60 for completion of the second visit. To find out more about this study, call 205-834-3625 or email
