Jan. 18 Be sew committed
Add your own piece to “The March Quilts” to celebrate Alabama’s civil rights legacy. Join in a community sewing project to create large quilts that commemorate the 50th anniversary of the march from Selma to Montgomery. The next sewing times are 1-3 p.m. Jan. 18 in the Birmingham Museum of Art and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Jan. 19 in AEIVA Room 260.

Jan. 19 Scale it back
Employee Wellness will provide weigh-in sites for UAB employees participating in Scale Back Alabama, a free, statewide weight-loss program designed to encourage residents to get healthy. Program updates and the weigh-in schedule and sites are online.

The Faculty Senate will host an open forum with Provost Linda Lucas to discuss the future of graduate education at UAB and the open dean position at 3:30-5 p.m. Jan. 20 in the Callahan Eye Foundation Hospital Smith Education Center.

This 90-minute course will help you review skills needed to navigate the library’s physical space and website, find and use its print and digital resources and more. Classes will be held Jan. 21, Jan. 29 and Feb. 5. Learn more and register online.

See firsthand how your generosity is making a difference through Benevolent Fund service projects. Join other UAB employees in supporting the Community Food Bank Weekender Program 5:30-7:30 p.m. Jan. 22 to fill backpack with food for at-risk children
