The Campaign for UAB appeals to online givers

give-now-buttonOnline contributions during the six months since the public launch of The Campaign for UAB: Give Something, Change Everything surpassed online gifts from the entire previous fiscal year.

The online giving tool, with its drop-down menu and fill-in-the-blank option, has enabled donors to direct gifts — from $1 to $50,000 — to the passion of his or her choice any time of day or night.

In this fiscal year beginning October 2013, more than $250,000 was given online compared to $159,396 during the same six-month period the previous year; $242,484 total was given online during FY 2012-13.

“This is a time of great momentum for UAB, Birmingham and the region,” Vice President Shirley Salloway Kahn said. “We’re well on our way to raising $500,000 online this year.”

Online donations have come from members of the local and business community, people passionate about wiping out cancer or Parkinson’s disease, fans of the arts and athletics and proponents of downtown revitalization to name a few. “Every gift matters,” Kahn said, “and it is thrilling to see that UAB matters to these people.”

The campaign’s "Give now" buttons and banners provide a consistent way to communicate across any UAB online presence about the critical need for campaign support. Download with one click from the Campaign for UAB Toolkit and feature them prominently on your site. URLs to link the button directly to specific funds are available by request at gifts@uab.edu.
