Phillips is new associate director for CTL

scott phillipsScott Phillips, Ph.D., is the new associate director of the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL).

Phillips is associate professor of music technology at UAB, where he has spent the past seven of his more than 19 years teaching. He has extensive experience in music and video production, and his scholarly interests include the use of technology in teaching and curriculum development.

“Scott has complementary talents that will expand how we can support faculty. His technology expertise will really open new possibilities,” said CTL Director Jonathan Waugh.

Phillips’ book, “Beyond Sound: The College and Career Guide in Music Technology,” was released in 2013. His most recent publication, “Chapter 6: Technology for the Choral Director” appears in the 2015 edition of “Directing the Choral Music Program,” also published by Oxford.

Phillips is president-elect of the Association for Technology in Music Instruction, member of the technology advisory committee of the College Music Society and on the board of directors of the Technology Institute for Music Educators.
