A national search for a new dean, which has been underway for several months, is expected to be completed soon. “We asked Donna to serve for an indefinite interim period to ensure continuity in senior leadership,” said Provost Pam Benoit.

“Dr. Slovensky has a rich history of service to the faculty, staff, and students of the School of Health Professions, both in her role as senior associate dean and as a health care management expert,” Benoit said. “She is fully prepared to lead the school until a new dean is in place.”

Slovensky said that the school has a vibrant and varied constituency base, including faculty, staff, students and more than 18,000 alumni. “I am so looking forward to serving all our constituencies as interim dean,” Slovensky said.

Slovensky earned her bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees from UAB. She is one of three editors of the “Handbook of Healthcare Management,” published by Edward Elgar Publishing in 2015, and she has been honored by the American Health Information Management Association for the numerous book chapters and journals she has authored and edited.
