Beyond Boundaries: AR and VR in Alabama, a major gathering of tech thought leaders from UAB, UAB Medicine and leading companies nationwide, will be held at the Collat School of Business from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 5. The event is free and open to all employees and students, as well as members of the community. Lunch will be provided and parking is free for those who register. (Register here.)

During the event, attendees can immerse themselves in engaging presentations, discussions and panel talks exploring the transformative potential of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) in business, education, medicine, the government, and more. Beyond Boundaries is sponsored by UAB Medicine, the UAB Collat School of Business, UAB Libraries and i3 Corporation.

Speakers include researchers and clinicians who will discuss applications of VR across the continuum of care at UAB, remote health care, and procedure training. Speakers from Boeing will explain how the company is using augmented reality in its production process for next-generation spacecraft. Speakers from the Collat School of Business will share how they are navigating the VR/AR training landscape through building a diverse team. And, in the event’s Vendor Village, leading hardware and software brands will showcase their latest innovations, providing firsthand experiences with groundbreaking technology.

“Virtual reality and augmented reality are already playing a role in business, medicine, education and more here in Alabama,” said Cori Perdue, Ph.D., director of Professional Education in the Collat School of Business. “Beyond Boundaries is a great way to find out what others are doing, meet potential collaborators and try these amazing technologies out for yourself.”
